Variety reports Michael Bay (Pearl Harbor) will produce a remake of the cult horror The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Tobe Hopper, director of the original 1974 film is aparently co-writing the script with his original co-writer, Kim Henkel.

I heard the same thing, that Gunner has been passing the script around, had it rejected and that Hooper is interested but I haven't heard much else.

Has anyone ever seen a remake that was as good or better then the original? I know I haven't. I don't care who wrote the script, I'm expceting to be dissapointed.

Savini's Night of the Living Dead was real close, I wouldn't go so far as to say it equaled or surpassed Romero's but it was damn close. So I'm willing to give any film a chance but I don't have high hopes for many, if any, horror remakes. ~~Will~~

I'm not to happy about classic's being remade, I mean Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is such a good horror fick while remake it. It's also being said that Scooby-Doo writer James Gunn is writing a remake of "Dawn of the Dead". In the latest issue of Fangoria George Romero responsed by saying it is a ridiculous idea.
