What's going on? And what's the deal gore family!
Are slasher films making a comback? It seems that a few movie makers are racing to the punch, scraching their way back to their roots of horror films of the late 60's, 70's and of course the totaly 80's. Many of us, those who carry of the age of 30 and up, have witnessed the dredded demise of the slasher film, and the blowout Tipper Gore demonstartion of censorship. All of SUDDEN, those dark and creepy night's of bone chilling movie watching while sportin our adidas sneakers, came to an end.
But are they back?? Well, so far I have seen flicks like Valentine, Jeepers Creepers, and The Wrong Turn will be making its' debut pretty soon. These types of films, to me have somewhat strayed away from the typical bubble gum commercial type slasher flicks, that we have witnessed through, "I know what you did last summer" as well as "Scream".
I don't know about you, but slashers have always worked for me. Flicks like "Mothers Day", "Humongous", "Mad Man" and few others have touched the darkest fears of our imaginations, and have exploited the "our dear America" in the truest form.
Can you feel them knocking again?
The Knee bender.

The slasher subgenre won't be making a new comeback it hasn't already made with Scream. It's always been around, it's just that recently, it's been more prevalent in the indies and B-flicks. I have to admit, I love slasher flicks too. And Scream was a rare treat for me. I always get into stupid teens running around and screaming a lot. It's just this time, one of them was the killer. Anyway, that's getting off track. Hopefully, good or bad, more comtemporary horror films will be made. Someone needs to make the effort.
