Well, after retiring from the film industry to work on Italian television projects so that Soavi could spend more time with his terminally ill son, the news has finally been announced of two upcoming Soavi films, probably due for a release next year. After a "dark thriller," the next project will be one written by the screenwriter of Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetary Man). Anyone else excited by this news?

Hmmm. Surprises me that no-one has anything to say about this guy's return to the film industry. Soavi is the man who brought us Rupert Everett in Dellamorte Dellamore, probably better known to the US as CEMETARY MAN, one of the most imaginative and poignant comedy horror fantasies ever made.

Cool, it's impressive that Dellamorte Dellamore/Cemetary Man hasn't aged at all either. It's over 10 years old but you certainly wouldn't know it and it's a real shame that it's not currently available on region 1 dvd. It seems odd that Anchor Bay would release Stagefright (good for a debut) and then The Church but not this classic film. I've got an Italian region 2 disc but sadly it's only got 2.0 sound (although the print is the best that I have EVER seen for a dvd!) This is a film that EVERY horror or fantasy fan needs to see for definite. Easily the most imaginative and unique genre film that I've seen to date. I'm certain that even folks who aren't Italian horror fans would love this movie. In fact, if it wasn't for the crew names and the often stunning photography, you wouldn't even know that this film was Italian. I can't help but feel sympathy for Rupert Everett. This is his finest moment and it's pretty much unheard of in his own country over here in the UK. I'm a huge Argentophile (although I have to be honest & say that I don't enjoy Phantom Of The Opera or rate the Dario cut of Dawn Of The Dead) and I'm convinced that Soavi is on a par. In fact, DD/CM proves it for certain. A crazy cross-breed horror/fantasy that starts out as a basic zombie comedy. This is one of the rare genre films where it's impossible to predict what will happen next. The last 5 minutes of the film is the icing on the cake - it makes my hair stand on end. Amazing... I'm glad that I'm not the only one really looking forward to some post DD Soavi movies.
