Yup it's called marketing and making more money than they can handle, not a bad idea, but they do trick the consumer into buying both of them. They are doing the same thing with "Lord of the Rings"

I agree, pure bullshit, but is Paul Anderson just saying that to calm the intense roaring fire under his ass lit by horror fans? Will there really be a second release? I truly doubt it, if so, maybe after the Resident Evil 2 DVD (if there is ever one) hits the shelves...
