I've seen the original Japanese version from '98 and I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to the remake, especially because Dreamworks is at the helm...the story of the killer video sounds a little hokey at first, but i think it's going to really one-up feardotcom.com, especially since fear.... is a techno slasher-flick, when ring has some great supernatural vibes. the trailer is fantastic. is anybody else looking forward to it?

i'm gonna have to take back my comment about looking forward to it. the teasers make it look like crap and whats with the pg-13 rating, gimme a fuckin break!
dreamworks=speilberg=pretentious garbage that will without a doubt cop out

It's rated PG-13.... shit, I've noticed they have been donig that with a lot of stright to video horror films as well. It seems if you have less cursing over less gore you get a PG-13 rating now. kind of weird if you ask me.

I have the original Japanese version on DVD and it's one of the classiest horror flicks I've seen. But from what I've read around the web it seems that Hollywood have made an absolute mess of remaking it. Nothing new there then....

I've seen it, and it was one of the scariest films that I have seen during these modern times of the 90's and turn of the century. You can't just walk away from this flick, and expect to recieve the full effect of what it has to offer. i will admit that the director is trying to pull of the M Night Shumalan of the sixth sense element, with his suspense and what's going to happen all the way at the end style. Very spooky and wicked.
Check it people.

The US version of Ringu sucked and i'm sure the remake of the second part will do the same.
I love the originals though.
