Well I can say without hesitation that I am a die hard Star Wars fan. When I first saw Episode 1 I absolutly hated it. Jar Jar Binks ruined that film for me. Darth Maul was a badass (more on him in a moment) and I liked the characters of Qui-Jon and Obi-Won but they seemed to be way overshadowed by the special fx and minor characters. The Pod-Race was absolute crap as well as the performance of that brat they found to play Aniken. However those were my feelings when I first saw the film, I have seen the film maybe twenty times since and have warmed up to it, I still very much dislike both the JarJar character and the performance of the kid but overall the movie isn't as bad now. Episode 2 on the other hand I LOVED, I felt it was on par with the original three films, which are the holy grail of sci-fi films if you ask me. Everything that George Lucas did wrong in the first film he did right in this one. I've heard people say the film contained to much talking and not enough action? I couldn't disagree more, the film opens with beautiful scenery and then an earth shattering explosion that starts the action, a fifteen minute action/car chase with Anikin and Obi-Won hot on the trail of the killer. This film had it all... and not to mention a lightsaber fight featuring Yoda for Gods sake! What more could a giddy fan boy like myself ask for? The film confirmed Anikins descent into the darkside, made light of the fact that Obi-Won is indeed a badass and WILL put Anikin in his place in the next film and that Amidala is a hottie! I'm waiting with bated breath for the third. Now speaking of the third film and to get back to Maul, you'll be interested to note that rumours have been running rampant about a possible Darth Maul return The premise of the film is the "Clone"Wars afterall! Apparently it's rumoured that the Maul in the first film was only a prototype clone, afterall it was a padawan learner that bested a full fledged Jedi Master?!? Doubtful, so lets cross our fingers and hope that Lucas returns Maul to the big screen. ~~Will~~

the underuse of maul in episode 1 is an unholy travesty. i also kinda liked ep. 1, as for ep. 2 i totally agree with your review piz. i thought it filled with so many cliches and tired elements. what a waste and a total cop out.
