Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) has signed on with Universal to helm Van Helsing. The film will center on the 19th century vampire hunter as he attempts to vanquish evil in Eastern Europe. Reports have him battling Frankenstein, The Wolf-Man and (of course) Dracula, all in the same film. Shooting begins in the fall.

All in the same film doesn't sound too promising. And who is Sommers exactly, the director of the Brendan Frasier Mummy movies? Those are NOT horror really, just action/adventure like Indy Jones movies. So does that mean Van Hesling will be the same sort of movie you think?

Yeah he was the director of the Mummy films, although I didn't like either film the first I would consider an action/horror and the second mostly just action with a little bit of horror elements in it. I think this one sounds interesting but I would have to learn more about it before making a judgement. It kinda sounds like a Monster Squad prequel to me. ;D
