I'm not that big a Star Wars fan, which is generally rare for any Sci-Fi fan.
I liked parts of the original - namely both Han Solo and Darth Vader as anti-heroes, and Empire Strikes Back ending so pessimistically was cool.
I hated Episode I though. I thouht it was completely childish and convoluted. The only saving grace was Dath Maul, and he was way cool. But they didn't show him to an evil Sith lord. All he did was take part in two fights.

I hated Ep 1. All the hype was about Darth Maul, like he would be a new Vader, but he was hardly in it. I've heard Ep2 is going to be a love story which sounds like a shite idea.

- - RUMOUR - -
Yeah, I heard that it's going to be about Anakin and Princess Amidala(?) getting together and the procreation of Luke and Leia.
I think the Clone Wars are involved in this, and I heard that Boba Fett will be a major character.

"enough with this Star Wars crap" would have been enough.

I was under the impression that this was the Sci Fi section of the board, not to mention a Star Wars thread.

I actually enjoyed all 4 movies, probably A New Hope the most (keep in mind I was an impressionable youngun when I saw it during it's original airing), followed by ep. 1 which I promptly bought on tape after seeing it. The Sith Lords are cool but I was also disappointed with how they handled Darth Maul. Because there was a span of soooo many years between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, I got hooked on the books that follow the timeline really closely while expanding on the Star Wars universe.

I didn't think Ep1 matched up with the original films.
1- In the original Star Wars Obi Wan met C3PO for the 1st time, yet in EP 1 they meet.
2- The technology in EP1 appears to be more advanced
3- In the original films it is said that Obi Wan's teacher was Yoda, yet in Ep1 he is the student of Neeson's character.
I'm no expert on the films so I stand to be corrected on these points, however I believe that Ep1 had one fatal flaw, it was shite.

I agree that the technology in Ep 1 appears more advanced. But I'm not sure if they ever REALLY said that it was the FIRST meeting between C3PO and Kenobi in the original or not. If it wasn't actually stated then they could get by that by making their first meeting in Ep 1. I'd have to watch the original one again to be sure though, you could certainly be right. Re: the discrepancy between the masters who trained Kenobi, I just took it to be that Gi Quon (sp?) was his 1st master and because he died while Kenobi was still a young padawan, that Kenobi probably went to Yoda for additional training at some point later. Seems like everyone goes to Yoda eventually lol. I was really careful not to go into Ep. 1 expecting it to be fantastic, that way I was not disappointed like many were and I was able to just enjoy it as is. Can't stand Jar Jar though lol, wanted to slap the sh*t out of him.

Episode 1 was horrible. The only good scene, was the dual between Maul and the two jedi's. George Lucas has the same type of Hollywood Hypnosis that Disney Has. Whether or not if their flicks may possible be crap, everyone will go see them, because of their history and huge budget. Everyone except for Playboy...
